MARPLE RUNNERS CARNIVAL 10K TRAIL RACE & 2K FAMILY FUN RUN
Marple Runners Carnival 10k Trail Race - Sunday 18th June 2023
Thanks to all of you who took part in our 2023 Carnival Races: the 10k sold out (350 places) and we had around 180 pay for the Family Fun Run). We were blessed with good weather and it all passed without incident.
Put Sunday 16th June 2024 in your diary for next year's event. We hope to open up entries in early 2024.
This is our sixth annual trail race, taking in some of the parks, countryside, and sights of Marple. A multi terrain, mainly off-road, 10k race starting in Brabyns Park Marple, utilising sections (not the muddy part) of the Marple parkrun course before leaving the park via the canal locks, taking back roads and trails via Marple Hall to Chadkirk and up "that hill", then back to Marple along the Peak Forest Canal, crossing the iconic Marple Aqueduct before finishing back at the start in Brabyns Park.
Our famous supportive and cheerful marshals (all Marple Runners members)

2k Family Fun Run
Entry on the day only - £2 (cash only)
Taking place at 9:30 (30 minutes before the main 10k race - warm up at 9:25), with entry on the day £2 cash only. Open for all ages from 4 upwards. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respect that there is limited parking for the event, so avoid coming by car if you are local, and arrive early if coming by car to be directed by our car park team.
Registration closes at 9:15. As a Fun Run, no times or prizes are awarded, but each registered finisher gets a commemorative medal, and maybe a high5 from Dennis or Minnie!
It is not permitted to run with a dog as not all children running will be comfortable around dogs.
Access to the park on the day is by foot only - we request all attendees to not use the car parks within the park and that local runners avoid travel by car.
Brabyns Park is close to both Marple Station and local bus stops for services 383, 384 and 375.
If you must travel by car, please use one of the three free car parks close to the park. Entrances are just off Brabyns Brow (by the Purple Pakora restaurant, at Marple Station, and opposite the park entrance) - there will be both signs and marshals to help you.
Registration will be online only (see below)
Entries close at Midnight on 5th June 2023 unless stated elsewhere on this page.

Users of hotmail and gmail may find that your spam filter does not let through some of our emails to runners. It is vitally important, especially this year, that you receive all our communication to keep you up to date with any potential event changes or clarifications, so please make sure that the above email address AND email@example.com are set to your safe list on your spam filter.
10k Entry Costs
£15 + booking fee(*) for England Athletics affiliated runners
£17 + booking fee(*) for non-affiliated runners
* this is the fee paid to the online entry system, plus the money transfer system (which can very slightly depending on your debit / credit card). It is around £1.15. It is not refundable under any circumstances.
For category winners (M&F V40-49, V50-59, and 60 & over) - to be confirmed - (we go light on prizes, our event is more about wide participation and giving value to all entrants).
10k Deferrals, Transfers & Refunds Policy
We understand that runners get injured or ill before races, but as a non-profit and volunteer run event, we need to restrict deferrals and refunds
Cost free deferral to 2024's event will be allowed up until Midnight on 5th June 2023 (at which point we will be mailing out race numbers and timing chips). Deferrals may be made to the next year's event only and you must confirm your participation after we open entries for 2024 (probably in January 2023) by end March 2024 in order to be entered into 2024's event
We have contacted all runners who deferred from 2022's event
Entries can be transferred to another runner via the entry system (see link below) up until midnight 5th June 2023
In the unlikely event that we are forced to cancel, we will offer free deferral or a refund of the entry fee - but we request that runners defer rather than ask for a refund (it takes an enormous amount of volunteer time to organise refunds ... and we have lives as well)
Course map below.
Starting and finishing in beautiful Brabyns Park, then a short section of Marple canal locks, some quiet back roads and paths in Marple, past the ruins of Marple Hall and over the River Goyt into Chadkirk Country Park, up "that hill" to the Peak Forest Canal and back to Brabyns Park over the spectacular Marple Aqueduct towering 40m above the River Goyt.
This is a multi-terrain event, mostly on trails (some of which are narrow) and with some gates and steps. As such, the course is not suitable for running with buggies or dogs, both of which are prohibited.
