Elise Evans - Chair
Elise is the Club’s Chair taking over the role in 2025 to lead the Club, having previously been our Vice Chair, a Welfare Officer, and also our Cross Country Team Manager,
Andy Hodson - Vice Chair
As Vice Chair, Andy supports and shares the Chair’s workload to keep us running.
Andy is a qualified CiRF (Coach in Running Fitness) so plans and delivers many of our Training sessions.

Rich Furniss - Club Secretary
Rich (the one on the right) is our Club Secretary, keeping the club on-track with governance issues, overseeing policy improvement, and organising key meetings. A previous Club Chair, Rich is also a Welfare Officer, a regular CiRF qualified coach at club sessions, and previously establshed our our annual trail race and fun run.

Simon Burrow - Membership
A former Men's Captain & preferring Ultrmarathon events, Simon now looks after everything related to being a member of the club - if you are interested in joining Marple Runners, send him a message.
Lea Carruthers - Treasurer
Lea is our Club Treasurer, she manages the budgets for the multiple Marple Runners social events, ensures the financial records are up to date and provides financial reports to the management team on a regular basis to help their decision making. In 2025 Lea completed her first long(ish) distance trail run of Hathersage Hurtle. She would love to do more but balancing 2 young children and running is tricky so currently sneaks out for a run whenever she can.
Sarah Hardy - Welfare Secretary
Sarah leads on developing our welfare and inclusion practices, dealing with issues raised. Any concerns, contact Sarah.
Mark Lynch - Communications Officer
Mark takes care of social media channels, website, news and advertising, and produces our Podcast. As you might imagine he also likes a bit of running too and is a qualified LiRF (Leader in Running Fitness). If you have any news items or photos you are willing to share on the website or our social media pages, or just info about our club, please contact Mark.
Hannah Smith - Social Secretary
After being a member of Marple Runners for 4 years, Hannah was very excited to take on the role of Social Secretary and is always looking to plan fantastic events to continue bringing the club together!
Hannah also enjoys being part of the 10k Trail race committee, helping to coordinate our monthly run schedule, and more recently supporting our Pub-2-Parkrun group as a qualified LiRF.

Neil Commins - Social Secretary
Neil has lots of running experience in road, trail and XC events with Marple, a previous Men's captain 2024-26, Neil also enthusiastically helps with Club Champs planning, and importantly is also Race Director organising our annual 10k Trail Race and Fun Run. Neil also co-produces the Club Podcast.

Eleanor Connelly -
Kit & Resources Officer
Eleanor takes care of all your kit orders and our running equipment. She is a Run Leader; specialising in mental health & menopause and a swimming teacher & gynmastics coach; specialising in disabilities. Fill in the Google Form on our Club Shop page and she'll get some kit to you.. pronto... she might even run there with it.
Simeon Farrington Newman - Coaching Officer
Simeon is an experienced runner and UKA qualified running coach specialising in trail and off-road running; managing the Coaching Team and strategy.

Steve was a member of the club for around 3 years before taking on our Mens Captan's role in 2026. Steve embraces everything we do; from volunteering at the Marple 10k Trail Race to getting stuck into all kinds of club events. He’s a big believer in the power of running, no matter where you’re starting from or what you’re aiming for. Whether you’re chasing a PB or just finding your feet, Steve loves supporting people in reaching their own goals, and he’s there to welcome new runners and help them feel right at home in the club.

Welcoming new runners to our Club, Hannah was a member of Marple Runners for 3 years before taking on the Captain's role in 2025 having helped out with the 10k trail race and co-ordinating the monthly social run schedule. Hannah enthusiastically welcomes new members into the Club to help their running journey be as positive as her own has been!
